RailMac 18T Battery Locomotive
The 18T Battery Locomotive features a welded – steel frame suspended by leaf springs/rubber studs. It uses an electronic speed controller with AC converters to power dual AC motors (40kW – 2 or 45kW – 2, brushless). Equipped with pneumatic brakes, a sanding system, and a dual – cab, it supports 762/900mm gauges. With speed regulation via Resistance/IGBT or AC Converter and mechanical/air/electric braking, its integrated system enables real – time monitoring. Powered by a 730Ah anti – acid battery, it’s ideal for shunting and short – distance freight in coal, metallurgy, etc.

The locomotive is equipped with an industrial-grade battery system featuring 104 series-connected lead-acid cells housed in a heavy-duty steel compartment with specialized anti-acid lining, delivering a 208V power supply with an exceptional 730Ah capacity (5-hour rating), ensuring extended operational endurance for continuous heavy-load applications while providing maximum protection against corrosive damage in the most demanding mining and industrial environments.

Powered by high-performance 40kW-2 and 45kW-2 electric motors with both traditional DC (resistance/IGBT control) and modern 3-phase AC motor (converter control) options, the locomotive delivers industry-leading traction performance (up to 46.8 kN maximum traction force) while eliminating carbon brushes and other wear components in AC configurations through advanced frequency conversion technology that enables precise stepless speed control at 9.8 km/h operational speeds.
